The problems with SADM (Special Atomic Demolition Munition)

When we are talking about special nuclear devices, what came in the public knowledge with the Frederick Forsyth’s book “The 4th. protocol”. Those small size atomic ammunition would bring to the country in pieces, and they could put to use from pieces. That kind of devices uses of course highly radioactive material, and they could be seen by sensors, what would detect nuclear radiation. That kind of weapons is not very difficult to make if the makers have right materials in their hands. In that book, some KGB officials would make a terrorist attack by using this kind of device for setting up the nuclear accident.


But when we are thinking that fictional book, we might write the new end for it. This new end would be that somebody would traffic the nuclear material from Russia to the dark operations. A problem with nuclear material is the high control. If somebody steals that material, the productions of chain reaction would help to locate the place, where that material is coming from. And by trafficking the nuclear material from Russia, would the makers of that device hire their identity, if they are western citizens.


This is why I’m concerning about the Polonium murder of Alexander Litvinenko because that material would need the thing, what is called as “luminous badge”. This thing works as a neutron source in cannon devices, what are not normally used in military weapons. But in this case, canon device could be more sophisticated than implosion mechanism. Another good material for the neutron source could be Radium. This part is the thing what is targeted by a piece of Plutonium, and it boosts the neutron impact to inside that device. This device would have no safety systems, and it could be very dangerous in wrong hands.


But the thing is not so simple as persons usually think. The nuclear device would not necessarily cause the death of the manufacturer, and those pieces of nuclear material would not send enough radiation, that alarm system would launch. Those nuclear devices can be packed in the water tanks, and the water would be great isolation material for radiation. Why I’m concerning about this thing, is that somebody could steal highly radioactive Polonium-isotope from the laboratory. And maybe this same person could steal highly fissile nuclear material from the reactors or from nuclear waste.


Those pieces of plutonium can carry inside the water tank or they can also close in the rubber ball, what is covered with gold leaf. And that would isolate those radioactive rays from outside. And that would cause the very risky situation. If that kind of device would be built, the structure of that atomic weapon would not be very complicated.


There would be one tube, where is one piece of plutonium. That tube would be loaded with explosives, what would shoot the bite of plutonium inside another bite of this material. And if the builder wants would he use Polonium plate as the booster for neutron source. If somebody wants to use this kind of device in terror-attack, the results would be very horrible and devastating.

Strange canals at near Helsinki

Above and center of the text is two photographs that are taken in the city of Espoo, Southern Finland. The actual place is near Suomenoja electric plant, and there is a very large area of swamp and salt marsh, where lives lots of birds. They are portraits of channels what are dig in the very strange place at the rushes and very swamp area. Those channels are probably made for dry the place where they are, or maybe they are for some other purposes, what have not opened me yet.


Maybe they are made for some fish farms, but I want to write something more exciting, and this is why I'm writing about the nuclear bombs and radium. So take this writing about the free-thinking about the question, why somebody digs those channels. Maybe they were made for some jolly boat because the owner of the land wanted to go hunting. That might be one good explanation, for those channels. If some person has money, he might dig the channels for hunting. Or maybe they are made for controlling the water level in the salt marsh, who knows why they are made. Maybe someone has tested some tractor shover in that area. That might be the very good explanation.


Channels are too small for any boat or canoe, and that's why they are useless for hunting purposes, and they are dug like the sideways of the main riverbed, and that's why their purpose of dry the swamp area is not so trusty. The reason, why I'm writing about those channels is that nobody digs those things without the purpose, but what might that purpose be?

Why they are dug in that place, and the work what is done, is actually very good, but as you see the cement structure at the second picture, those channels are quite old, and there would be nothing purpose for those things, and sometimes I have thought that are they made for something, what will be trailed at under the sea. But what that thing would be? That is the very good question. In the same place, I found once the stone, where were engraved the Nazi symbols, and the Germans were here in Finland in 1941-1944, when Finland was at the war against the Soviet Union.


Sometimes I have thought did the German military personnel trained to handle the radioactive material in those channels. Of course, this is just only the hypothetical thinking, but we all know that Germans planned to make a "dirty nuclear bomb", what means the bomb, what has the Radium inside the explosives. And of course, the handling exercises must be done before the staff would let the handling real radioactive material.


There might be more realistic explanations for those channels than some Nazi-Radium. The "dirty bomb" could be the good explanation for some thriller movie.  But those channels might dig also for many other reasons. Like somebody could make the fish farm in Southern Finland. In that farm, the channels were dammed with the steel net, and the salmons would let to swim in those channels.

When people know about electromagnetism and radioactivity were increased in the end of 19th. century the militarization of that thing were interested many nations. When Marie and Pierre Curie isolated Radium from the Uranium mineral in the year 1898 and the Henri Becquerel made the investigations that when the mass of the radioactive material increasing the radiation what comes from the mass will also increase by the way, what seemed that there would be the point, where the material would explode. This point was called as the implosion point. The French government made investigations how to make the nuclear bomb by using the radium as the implosion material, but the production of that highly radioactive material was too difficult.


The thing what the French government was attempted to make was quite simple. They would build the "ironclad" ship, where were the pots what would be filled by the Radium, and then the conveyor would bring those pots one by one to the room where they would turn around. This could cause the increasing the mass of that radioactive material and then the nuclear fission, The problem was that nobody knew how much radium were needed. The nuclear weapon was made in 1945 in the "Manhattan project", but many people think that there were many more "nasty things" what was made under that project.


One German scientist Wilhelm Röntgen made investigations with the cathode ray tube and found out the existence of the X-rays, was the estrade ready for one of the most exotic designs of the theoretical nuclear devices. Röntgen found his rays three years before Radium, in 1895, and soon some scientist saw that there were lots of combinations between X-rays and other radioactive radiation. The scientists created the idea of the nuclear bomb where was no need for radioactive material.


The idea was very simple. Just build enough X-ray tubes and then focus their radiation in the same point, where was set one metal ball. If everything went right that metal bite could heat so much, that it could cause the same kind of effect than radioactive material. The problem with that device was that the radiation must take in the metal ball with very high power because the heating of that piece must happen with extremely high speed, and this was the reason, why the "X-ray bomb" would ever build.


But then in 1970´s some military scientists created the idea of the X-ray laser, what looks like the utopist thing. The X-ray laser is actually possible because the X-ray waves can be strengthened by stimulated emission of radiation.


The working of this device would be like that in the end of the tube is one X-ray tube, and the sides of the tube would be X-ray tubes, what will pump the energy to the X-ray, what travels thru that tube. If the radiation what travels thru the tube, and the X-ray tubes what are the sides of this tube has the same frequency,  the X-ray would be strengthened.


Same way works gamma-ray lasers. This phenomenon can also use the loudspeakers, at the end of the tube is the loudspeaker, and in the sides of this tube is also the loudspeaker system, what gives the voice what has the same frequency to that voice wave. This system can make the voice, what is extremely powerful and easy to target.
