SR-71 "Blackbird" is still officially the fastest aircraft in the world, but there is probably much better and more secretive aircraft, what is more, secure than this 60 years old veteran. The rumors say that in the world of intelligence have been transferred to use drones, and maybe SR-71's drone version is still operational. Today SR-71 is one of the most famous aircraft in the world, but in the early 1970's that aircraft was top secret.
When we are talking about drone versions of the recon planes, we must say that making those things is similar to making cruise missiles. The inertial navigation system can fly very complicated routes, and the system would work with the clock. The system operator would calculate the distance, what the aircraft would travel in the atmosphere, and then the computer would program to turn some direction by using some degrees.
As an example, the system can calculate to travel in some direction by using the speed of Mach 3 and then turn 20 degrees to the left. The thing what denies to hit to the ground is that the flight altitude would adjust higher than the tallest point on the ground. Actually, that aircraft could fly above normal air traffic. Then the GPS would deny taking the aircraft to control in the wrong airspace. If the aircraft would go too low the self-destruction would terminate it immediately.
The robot aircraft would give the very good option for intelligence because the pilot would not see the aircraft. And they would be told, that they are operating with some Predator-drones. The pilot is necessary only in the landing or taking off, but the modern computer technology can deny that problem, and the system can operate autonomous from the highly secured areas. Famous AREA-51 is not only a military area, what is used for those operations. The robot technology allows using self-destruction modules in those aircraft, and because there are no pilots on board, nobody ever notices, that those aircraft are missing.

Ghost bomber story

Why was the crew abandon unbroken B-17 bomber during its mission? It is the big question because in the World War 2 was not the very good thing to get into the prisoner of the war camp. If those persons were some agents of German intelligence, they would try to land with that plane. So why they jumped off the plane? One answer to this mystery was that this B-17 has no crew at all onboard its mission.
Some people believe that those "ghost bombers" were actually the early drones, what flew in the reconnaissance missions. That time there were no computers for controlling this kind of planes, but there were two gyroscopes in the drones. Those systems were tested at least in 1950's, and then the creation the drones were begun.
First, the drone was pulled up from the runway by using the analogical remote -control, and then the system was locked using the same kind of system, what is used in the radio-explosives. Then the first gyroscope took the control of that plane. There was the clock inside the system, and when the time was full, the clock system switched another gyroscope or autopilot as the control, and those drones came back to the base.
Then the radio signal reactivated the radio-controller and the airplane was able to land safely. Those missions were documented by using cameras, what worked all the time, and these analogical systems were needed no attention during the flight. Those early drones were used as the missiles, by loading their body with dynamite, and then they were driven against the bunkers.
During the cold war, those drones tested as the real bombers, and the dropping the bombs were happened by LORAN navigation system, where the drone flew to the target where two LORAN navigation signals were crossed, and then the radio-control system started to bomb the target. This system was proven untrustable because the enemy could easily find out the radio-frequencies, and then begin the bombardment too early. In some tests, the bombers were equipped with TV-cameras and the control crew bombed the targets in Nevada desert.
